ROAD CONSTRUCTION
April 22, 2008 - TXDOT awarded 3 contracts to Austin Bridge & Road. The projects are to construct turn lanes at three locations: 1) F.M. 740 on the south side of U.S. 80 placing a right hand turn lane. 2) Will be at Johnson Elementary School on F.M. 740 south. 3) Will be at F.M. 548 at Ridgecrest. This is a Federal Aid Project and is regulated under 2004 Standard Specification Guidelines. The contract amount is over $300,000.00, with work to be complete in 57 days.
The contractor will start setting barricades on April 21, 2008 and construction will begin on April 28, 2008 and end on August 7, 2008. The contractor will begin on F.M. 548 at Ridgecrest. Johnson Elementary School on F.M. 740 South will not begin until July 1, 2008.

COMMUNITY CLEAN UP
April 30, 2008 - The City of Forney will have a Clean Up Day on Saturday, May 17 from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the Forney High School. SMOKE TESTING of SEWER COLLECTION SYSTEM to BEGIN CITYWIDE
MARCH 17, 2008 - Monday, March 24, 2008 the City of Forney staff will begin smoke testing the sewer collection system throughout the City. The purpose for the smoke testing is to inventory and identify underground breaks and/or fractures in the sewer mains and manholes throughout the City’s sewer collection system mandated by the TCEQ. The smoke used is manufactured specifically for testing, is not dangerous or toxic, leaves no residuals or stains, and has no effects on plants or animals. The smoke has a distinctive, but not unpleasant odor and only lasts for a few minutes where there is adequate ventilation. Staff will begin North of Hwy 80 and work their way down to the south over the next months. The smoke should not enter your building unless the plumbing is defective or the drain traps are dried out. If this occurs you should contact your plumber. Some sewer lines and manholes are located on private property. If these lines require investigation, members of the inspection crews will need access to the facilities. City Staff does not need to enter your building. Videotapes will be made of any leaks occurring in the City’s Sewer Collection System. We thank you for your patience and support. EASTSIDE PROJECT UPDATE
May 1, 2008 – On Wednesday May 7, 2008, work will begin on the North side of Kaufman Street as part of the Eastside Project. Park Creek Avenue will be closed at Kaufman Street to build a bridge deck. Access in and out of Park Creek will be thru the SERVICE ROAD ONLY temporarily. The east drive going into Summerhaven Mobile Home Park at Kaufman Street will also be closed to build a bridge deck. The intersections will be closed until June 4, 2008, providing the concrete breaks return good and weather permits.
Please Note: Barricades will be placed so that residents that live inside the work zone will have access to their homes. During this construction, there will not be more than two streets closed at any one time.
