During the August 1 City Council Meeting, Mayor Wilson presented the Finance Department with the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. The Finance Department received the award based on the FY2017 budget and marks the eighth time the City has received this award, including every year since 2008.
The GFOA established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program in 1984 to encourage and assist state and local governments to prepare budget documents of the very highest quality that reflect both guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA’s best practices on budgeting and then recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal.
The GFOA was founded in 1906 and represents public finance officials throughout the United States and Canada.
