In March 2017, Lt. Russell Bannister, Driver/Operator Colt Risher, Firefighter Josh Mosley, and Firefighter Tiger Butler, all responded to a report of two citizens being attacked by a large swarm of bees. Upon arrival, they found one patient who had been stung more than 100 times and was still being attacked by the bees, and another trapped inside his truck. After putting on their protective gear, the firefighters sprayed the swarm of bees with both foam and water, which allowed them to rescue both the patient and the individual trapped inside the vehicle. The rescue allowed the patients to reach an ambulance that would then transport them to the hospital. The Fire Department would like to thank the crew of Engine #1 for their successful rescue attempt. We are proud to have such a courageous group of men on duty to serve the Forney community.
