Are games rained out?
Individual sports associations make the decision about whether or not to call games due to weather. Check your association's website, call your coach, or check the information you received during sign up for a hotline number.
The City of Forney Parks and Recreation Department does not make that decision on behalf of your association.
Ball Field Reservations
You may reserve Fields 1 to 11 at Mulberry Park or the baseball / softball fields at Claybon Elementary, Crosby Elementary, Criswell Elementary or Forney High School (FHS) (field by the parking lot) for:
- Wednesdays (5 to 7 p.m. or 7 to 9 p.m. time slot)
- Or a specified Sunday time slot (1 to 3 p.m, 3 to 5 p.m. or 5 to 7 p.m.)
You may may also reserve fields 1 to 4 at Forney Community Park Softball on Wednesdays and Sundays. Forney Community Park Softball fields may only be reserved by youth softball teams.
Field Conditions & General Rules
- If you walk on a skinned surface (infield) and leave footprints, the field is not playable.
- If you walk on a grass surface and water is visible as you step (squishy), the field is not playable.
Note: Since everyone is practicing on the same fields their games will be on, it is vital to err on the side of caution for practicing or playing when the field is unsafe or can be damaged.
Reserve a Field
Ball field reservations begin on Monday mornings at 8 a.m. by email only. Phone calls and walk-in reservations are not accepted. You may email Monday at 8 a.m. for a reservation for the following Wednesday evening or a Sunday specified time slot. Emails sent before 8 a.m. will not be processed.
You will receive your field assignment on Tuesday morning. Reservations are for 1 week at a time. Reservations are for 1 time slot per team per week. Due to high demand, you may not reserve a field 2 consecutive weeks in a row. Also, field assignments will not be made until Tuesday afternoon instead of "as soon as possible (ASAP)" Monday mornings (you may send your request at 8 a.m. on Monday mornings, but you will not get a reply until Tuesday afternoons).
First Come & First Serve
When Metro East Softball Association (MESA) and Forney Youth Baseball Association (FYBA) spring and fall season are over, Mulberry fields 2 to 11, Claybon, Criswell, Crosby and the field by the parking lot at FHS are first come / first serve except for Wednesdays and Sundays. Again, Wednesdays and Sundays are by reservation only and not first come/first serve. You may rent lights for an evening that fields are first come/first serve. Light rental is done by walk-in's only and not by email. See below for light rental and payment information.
Adult Softball Games
Adult Softball and Adult Kickball will have games on Mulberry Park field 1. Field 1 can be reserved for Wednesdays and Sundays.
Lights & Payment Instructions
Note: Ball field lights are done in 1 half hour blocks. They are $20 for residents and $25 for nonresidents. Payment is due no later than 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday for Wednesday reservations. If your light payment is not received by Wednesday 4:30 p.m, your lights will not be turned on. We do not schedule lights during the summer since it does not get dark until 9 p.m. or later.
