Blake's Run

Saturday, November 3, 2018

On Nov. 3, CLife is hosting their Sixth Annual Blake's Run 5K! For the last couple of years, we’ve had a blast turning the event into a color run, but this year we decided to replace the powder with a chip timer to make things a little more competitive! If you aren’t competitive, no worries — just run for fun!

Why is it called Blake’s Run?

On December 23, 2001, Blake Schoenrock, who was 10 years old at the time, wrote a note and wrapped it up like a Christmas present. Every year, Blake would put the package under the family Christmas tree, but no one was allowed to open it, and no one other than Blake knew what was inside.

Blake went on to live his life well and was enjoying his time as a Texas A&M student when, just 10 days after completing a triathlon, he suffered a major heart attack. After a courageous and well-fought six-day battle, Blake entered into the presence of God.

Following his death, Blake’s parents opened the little gift that their son had placed under the tree every Christmas for the past 10 years. What they found was more than just a note — it was a reminder of what had been most important to their son. The note read, “Tell the world about Jesus.”

Blake was an amazing athlete, an incredible student, an honorable son and, most importantly, a devoted and passionate follower of Jesus. In honor of his life, and in keeping with his desire to see the name of Christ exalted, we invite you to join us for Blake’s Run.

How can I help?

You can support Blake’s Run in a few different ways:

Runners (Ages 8 & Under*)

These children, whether running or riding in a stroller, can participate for free! We just want a record of them being at the race and, more importantly, would like a guardian to sign a waiver. If you would like to purchase a t-shirt for them you can do so through our registration website or you may contact Becca at bspence@clifec.com to order. They are $10/shirt. Shirts are only guaranteed for those who register prior to Oct. 22. *Prices are based on the participant’s age on the day of the race.

Runners (Ages 9-12*)

The registration fee for these runners is $20. All runners who register prior to Oct. 22 are guaranteed to receive a t-shirt and a race bag. *Prices are based on the participant’s age on the day of the race.

Runners (Ages 13 & Older*)

The registration fee for these runners is $30. All runners who register prior to Oct. 22 are guaranteed to receive a t-shirt and a race bag. *Prices are based on the participant’s age on the day of the race.

Sleepers

Sleepers pay the same $30 registration fee as runners and get the same t-shirt (if registered prior to Oct. 22), but they get to sleep in during the actual run.
