Meet our New City Manager, Tony Carson

Why Forney?

I am very excited of the many opportunities that Forney has to offer. Excellent geographic location, a striving and growing housing market, great weather, a wonderful quality of life and most of all the friendliest group of people of any place we have either worked or lived.

How did you get started in municipal government?

After a successful career as a business owner, I was offered the opportunity to make my private business experience and be a part of County government. This led to an opportunity to start the County’s Purchasing Department and be named the Director of Purchasing for a large County in Ohio. After eight years in Purchasing and as a County Administrator, I moved into municipal government. Throughout my career I have managed cities in Ohio, Maryland, Delaware, Illinois and now the great state of Texas.

Throughout your municipal career you have been in several states up north, are you prepared for the Texas heat?

The Texas weather is an added bonus of living and working in Forney. My wife and I always have enjoyed warm weather and we are looking forward to a winter without possibly seeing any snow.

Outside the office, what are some of your interests and hobbies?

Any activity that involves being outdoors that does not involve snow. I have had an interest in horses going back to my childhood. Over the years I have owned thoroughbred and standardbred race horses with varying degrees of success.

Do you have a favorite sports team or any that you “root” for?

Growing up near Cleveland, Ohio, I have already been a fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers. I would go to as many games as possible. And of course, being from Ohio, I am a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Favorite Food?

Anything Italian.
